PLEIN AIR

Plein air ( Open air painting), or painting outdoors is one of my favorite painting activities.  The painting has got to be done very fast, like one and a half to two hours. I generally use a big brush and move as fast as I can.   Most of these are smaller, ( 9 x 12, 11 x 14,  12 x 16 etc. )  The colors tend to be closer to nature than painting from a photo.  It is a good way to get your landscape colors closer to nature.  Also, when you are painting it seems the sun speeds up and the light changes so fast.  Therefore, you have to really throw the paint. On most pieces, they end up with a soft peaceful feeling which seems a little weird.
